Exchanging files and other data has become very common among internet users. All kind of files ans software applications are being shared all the time.
To do this, users normally use Peer2Peer (P2P) programs such as eMule, Ares or BitTorrent.
You must take care before downloading and redistributing content form other users, and before opening and executing any content or software from the web, much of which is subject to legal restrictions.
Software can be open source, which means that we know the source code and anyone can modify it. If it isn't open source, then only the owner can modify it.
There are other types of software:
-- Free software. Users can install, modify, copy and distribute the software .
--Propietary software. The users need a licence to use, modify and distribute this software.
-- Freeware. This is free and can be distribuyendo but not modified.
-- Public domian software. Also free available to all users.

Shareware is a way of distributing software which allows the users to try the product first, then buy a licence later if they are satisfied with the product.

SOCIAL NETWORKS

Social networks are virtual spaces where users with common needs, interests or concerns can participate,communicate and share resources.
Members of these sites can invite people they know to join the network, and, in turn, these new members can invite their family, friends and colleagues to join too. In this way, the number of participants can grow very quickly.

You have to be invited to join some networks, but others are open to everyone.

By virtual we mean the simulation of scenes or images,produced by an IT system,which gives the impression of reality.

BLOGS:
Blogs are web sites that work on the same principle as a personal
diary; the author of a blog writes about their experiences and expresses their opinions on given subjects.

The author of the blog publishes the texts, or posts, periodically, and they are ordered chronologically.

WIKIS:
A wiki is a type of web site that can be adapted or corrected by participating users. In this way, its contents are constantly changing, and its users can add information whenever they like, it can also grow very rapidly.

Wikipedia:
Is an universal encyclopaedia, available in many languages. Everybody who wants can contribute with information. It is very popular and is, in fact, one of the most visited sites on the web.

The Internet is not a way to offer a large amounts of information, it is also the fastest way to send and receive messages.

TYPES OF INTERNET SERVICES:

1. Web site:
  -- Documents made up of text and images, which we can navigate using World Wide Web.
  -- It include links to other web sites.

2. Discussion forums and newsgroup:

  -- It work like conventional noticeboards.
  -- We can leave messages on them.
  -- We can read messages left by other users.

3. Electronic mail (email):
  -- It allow us to send and receive written messages to and from an email address.
  -- We can attach documents and images to these messages.

4. Chat and videos conferences:
  -- Internet allows us to communicate with others in real time.
  -- This can be in the form of written texts or chats.
  -- It can also be through sound and images, which we call video conferences.

5. Virtual communities:
  -- Allow groups of people with common interests to communicate with each other in virtual space.
